These are our dogs.

Long before they ever become part of our breeding program, they are puppies we carefully selected to hopefully carry YFL into the next generation. We raise them, train them, live with them and watch them grow, knowing that one day they may become the mothers of the next generation of YFL Labradors.

But breeding is only one small part of their lives.

These are the dogs that have stood beside us at our weddings. They were waiting at home when we brought our daughters home from the hospital. They have grown up alongside our children, traveled with us, slept in our bedrooms, joined us on family adventures and been there for countless ordinary moments that make a dog part of a family.

They are our family dogs first.

And that's important to us because we raise our dogs the same way we expect our families to raise their puppies. We don't believe a breeding dog should spend her life in a kennel simply because she is part of a breeding program. Whether one of our girls lives with us at Labrador Land or with one of our carefully selected guardian families, she is someone's dog, someone's companion and part of someone's everyday life.

When we select a female puppy to potentially carry on a YFL bloodline, we're looking years into the future. As she grows, we evaluate her health, temperament, structure, trainability, genetics and the qualities she inherited from the generations before her. Not every puppy we hold back will ultimately become a YFL mom. She has to grow into the dog we hoped she would become and successfully complete all of our health testing before entering our breeding program.

Our breeding females complete comprehensive genetic testing along with health evaluations through the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals (OFA), including hips, elbows and eyes. Our girls also earn Canine Health Information Center (CHIC) certification, creating a publicly verifiable record of their health testing.

Many of the girls you see below represent multiple generations of YFL Labradors. We knew their mothers. We knew their grandmothers. In some cases, we've watched generations of the same bloodline grow from eight week old puppies into mothers themselves.

That's what makes introducing our girls so special.

They aren't simply the females in our breeding program.

They're our dogs. They're part of our family. And when the time is right, they're trusted with carrying everything we've built into the next generation of YFL Labradors.
